In Nyeri County, we recently supported a patient recovering at home after a traumatic attack that resulted in the amputation of two fingers. Injuries like this change more than the body, they disrupt daily routines, independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing. Our role was to walk alongside the patient during recovery and help them rebuild both function and confidence in everyday life.
During our home visit, we focused on practical, hands-on support. We provided guidance on proper hand care, hygiene and safe handling of everyday objects to protect the healing hand and prevent further injury. Together, we worked through simple adaptations for daily tasks that require fine motor skills , small changes that make a big difference in restoring independence and reducing frustration.
Recovery after amputation is not only physical. Sudden loss of function often brings fear, anxiety and a sense of loss. We created space to address these emotional challenges through counseling, reassurance and consistent follow-up. By listening, encouraging and checking in regularly, we helped the patient regain confidence and feel supported throughout the recovery process.
This experience reinforces the value of home-based, holistic care. Healing in a familiar environment allows patients to practice new skills where they matter most in real life, not in a clinic. With the right guidance and support, recovery becomes more manageable, personal, and empowering.
At Compassionate Care for All, we remain committed to providing individualized care that supports both physical healing and emotional resilience. Every step forward no matter how small is a milestone. We are proud to support patients as they adapt, heal and reclaim independence after life-changing injuries.
